Rockford Mutual Insurance Company incorporated on December 8, 1971 under the laws of Illinois to become the successor to Rockford District Tornado Insurance Company. The latter was organized on November 2, 1896 in Illinois and began business on December 1, 1896 as Rockford Farmers' District Mutual Tornado Insurance Company. The word "Farmers" was deleted from the corporate title on January 16, 1940.

Rockford Mutual provides several lines of insurance protection. Our Personal Lines products consist of Automobile, Homeowners, Personal Umbrella, Watercraft, and Recreational Vehicle. Our Commercial Lines products consist of Commercial Auto, Business Owners Policies, Commercial Package Policies, Commercial Umbrella, Worker's Compensation, Farmowners, and Farm Umbrellas. These products vary by state. Rockford Mutual is committed to the Independent Agency System and all of our business is produced through a network of local independent agents who understand the needs of our customers.

We also operate as a reinsurer of farm mutual insurance companies located throughout Illinois, Wisconsin, and Missouri.
